Lähettiläät | Ambassadors

Lähettiläät | Ambassadors invite you to become a theater-maker!

Collaborate with us.

We are looking for young people who want to make performance and art.

Theatre. Dance. Music. Video. Costume. Design.

What do you care about? What will you stand up for?

In the Finnish National Theatre's Lähettiläät | Ambassadors project, young people from diverse backgrounds become artistic collaborators. Performances are created by professionals in collaboration with young people. Alongside performances, we will create public discussions to amplify the voices and concerns of young people.

Lähettiläät | Ambassadors project creates opportunities for self-expression, high-quality training in performing arts, work experience in artistic practices, and skills to progress to educational institutions in the field. Through this project, the young people will transform the National Theatre into a meeting place where people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds feel welcome. We are committed to building a future Finland free from racism together. Young people can be leaders in this.

In the first phase of the project, low-threshold theater and music workshops will be organized for young people with immigrant backgrounds. In the second phase, young people interested in performing will be invited to the National Theatre, where they will join the existing National Youth Theatre group.

The project is led by Jussi Lehtonen, Head of the National Theatre's Communities and Engagement Department, and Artistic Designer Tamara Searle, along with Executive Producer Roosa Vaverka. Professional artists from diverse backgrounds will be hired to lead the workshops. The project has a multidisciplinary steering group, which includes representatives from Migri, the Uusimaa ELY Centre, and participating group homes.
